My 2008 Camry had a bad front strut recently. After having it replaced, I was told the tires were so bad that it was unsafe to drive the car home. There were only 14,000 miles on the tires. I was first told in service that they were defective. I went to the tire manufacturer whose representative said it was due to the bad strut causing out of alignment which caused the tires to go bad. The fronts were rated by Peruzzi as 4/32 and the rear 6/32. Yet, in December during a routine service visit their paperwork said the tires were 10/32. Peruzzi rep. said "We're not Toyota" when I said they were responsible. He then talked to the manager and came back to me with a $321 quote for two tires. The next day, I asked to talk to the Toyota representative, but was told he never knew what time she would be there. I asked to be called when she arrived. It never happened! I was also told in a later conversation that they had another car that came in with only 10,000 miles and bad tires which indicated the tires were low performance. During my outside research, I was told that many of the companies are putting low grade tires on the new cars to save money. If this is true, then what about informing the consumer that they can be driving an unsafe car although the mileage is low? To date, I haven't heard from Peruzzi. I'm now getting in touch with Toyota in CA.
