Comments After my previous 2 letters I have a third to enter. Tuesday, Oct 6, 2009 I went into Fred Martins for my oil change. I pulled in the garage and told my service writer (Mike) that I was here for my oil change. He told me it would take a few minutes to write it up, and I should just go look at cars or sit in the break area. No sooner did I get the south end of the lot, my Wrangler came pulling out from the back of the building. I walked back down to my vehicle and checked the oil change sticker. It had not been changed so I closed the door and turned around and here comes Tom Dunn and Matt the service manager. Tom says to me,"I'm Tom Dunn, I am the general Manager, What the hell are you doing here? I said"I came to get my oil changed". He then said,"we do not change your oil here anymore, so get the F..K off of this property". I said ok and turned around to get in my Jeep and he then said,"why do you come here anyways"? I said, "I leased the Wrangler here and it came with 36,000 miles of free oil changes". He then repeated,"get the F..K off of this property and never step a F..King foot back on it again. We will pay you to get it changed somewhere else". I went and had the oil changed by my personal mechanic and on the 19th of this month traded it in for a 2010 Silverado. Therefore, I never have to deal with these cons (in my opinion) again.

Comments It all started in 1997. I bought a 97 Nissan 4x4 PU. It had no horse power at all. I took it back 48 hours later, since they had a 72 hour return policy. Adam Huff, who was the General Manager at the time, would not let me return it since there was nothing physically wrong with it. I went over his head to Mr Martin himself, who in turn let me trade in the Nissan for my first of 6 Jeep Wranglers. Then in 2004 I bought another Wrangler from Fred Martin. It had a 2.5L engine. I got tired of down shifting going into my driveway, so I brought it in to trade it for a 2006 or 2007 with a 4L. Mr lemon, my salesman told me that Chrysler would not finance me a 06 or 07, but they had one of the managers yellow, customized F150's they would finance for me. I left the dealer and went to Thomas Chrysler Jeep in Cuy Falls the next day and walked out with a new 06 Wrangler financed by none other than Chrysler Financial. The steering wheel started shaking when I would hit the smallest of bumps approx. 6 months after I bought it. I took it to Fred Martin. They said it was the "steering dampher linkage" and replaced it. It went out again in a couple months. I took it back and they replaced it again. It went out again for the third time a couple months later. To avoid the "Lemon Law" they said it was not the "steering dampher linkage" this time. So I traded it in for my present 08 Wrangler. In July of 09 it started squealing real bad. I took it to Fred Martin again. The mechanic told me it was the "throw out bearing", but it would take 4 or 5 days to get the part in. They called me back that night and said it wasn't the throw out and wouldn't be covered under the "lifetime drive train warranty". They told me it was the "clutch disc". I talked to 3 transmission mechanics that ALL told me the clutch disc does not squeal, that is was the "throw out bearing" as originally diagnosed. I paid $100 (on a deal from Chrysler)and got it fixed. When I picked up my Jeep there were scratches all over the area above the pass. side rear wheel well. They told me it couldn't have been done there and to rub it out myself. I threatened to go to the BBB and an attorney. They got it in and took 15 minutes to rub it out and fix it as good as new. Any other dealer would have taken care of it without arguement to avoid an unhappy customer. Fred Martin may know cars but they don't know people. They will screw you at every turn. If you want conned, go to Fred Martin Superstore and tell em Dan sent ya.

Comments When i went there i was great by a girl and she took me to a friendly sales person who helped me out to pick a great new car. Even after the sale my service person helped out to get a loaner vehicle when my vehicle was going to be in service overnight.

Comments I bought a 2008 Wrangler from Fred Martin Superstore. In July of 2009 the clutch started squealing. The squealing would stop when I touched the clutch. I took it in to the service dept. The mechanic who tested it told me it was the "throw out bearing". I told my service writer to set me up later in the week and call me. He called me that night and told me it wasn't covered under the warranty because it wasn't the "throw out bearing". He said it was the "clutch disc". I had it repaired and paid $100. A month later it started squealing again, so I took it back to the dealer. The service manager and the same mechanic took it for a test drive, came back and said it was the "throw out bearing". Avoid Fred Martin, as they are "rip off artists".
